Administration Services in Essbase. In this blog i m going to briefly discuss about Hyperion Essbase Administration Services. It is this core part of Essbase for managing data in the database. Introduction about Administration Services in Essbase  –   It’s a cross-platform administration tool for Essbase It consists of three tiers Administration Services Architecture – ·         Client Tier (Administration Services Console) – it’s a Java-based client console also called as EAS console (Essbase Administration Services Console). It’s a UI to manage Essbase Environment.              Middle Tier (Administration Server) – it’s a Java-based server maintains communication, session, and security information between console and Essbase server. Smart View connection Before connecting Oracle smart view with essbase. You need to download it from oracle website and install it. installation is easy process..next next next ...finish... Open MS Excel – Go to File -> Options Go to Add-in                    Go to Mange and select COMM Add-ins and Click Go Select Oracle Smart View for office and Click OK After the above step you see a SMARTVIEW option in the last of Excel ribbon. Adding Members to Dimension After creating the rule file for creating the members in the Essbase. Now we load data in the Essbase. So hold on tight... Data incoming.... Loading Data - Adding Members to Dimension - ·          Save and Close all the Outline Editor. ·          Right Click on your Database. Go to Load data ·          Now Select the Mode, Data source, Rules File and Click OK Note: If data is loaded successfully, It show Success else it will show Warning. Error file can be find in Path Mentioned in the Error File at the time of loading the data. ·          Once the members are loaded. You can notice the outline is changed. Members are added in the dimensions.    

Creating Rule File In this post will create rule files for our database to create members in our dimensions.We can create by right clicking the dimension and adding child. So hold on tight... Creating Rule file - 1.        Right click on the Database. Go to Create - > Rules File      2. Go to File -> Open Data File -> Select File Location (File System/Essbase Server), select     the data file. 3. Once Selected the Data file , Click OK. Data File will displayed in the screen. 4.   To separate the data in the above field column. Select the Data source properties tab, which forth last in the property ribbon. A dialog box will appear and in that select the Delimiter, And Click OK In the below picture it can be seen that in the field panel the data is separated by comma's and fields are divided into two parts. 5. Creating Dimensions in Database In the post will see how to create dimensions in your database.Here Essbase is already installed in the server. we just connecting to it. So hold on tight...  Creating Dimension in database - ·          Go to your Application -> Database -> Outline, ·          Right Click on Outline : <Database name> (Active Alias Table: Default) and select Add Child. Like this add as many dimension you want. Note that Only Dimension has to be created as of now. Members will be created in Rule File or right click dimension and click Add child . Save it!  

Essbase - Connection In the post will see how to connect Hyperion Essbase from your system. Here Essbase is already installed in the server. we just connecting to it and creating a application in it. So hold on tight...  Opening Hyperion Essbase - 1.  Open this URL in  http://IP Address : Port number/easconsole/console.html in any browser.   2.  Click launch button in the web browser. An easconsole.jnlp file will be downloaded.  (Keep it"It          won't harm the computer").And Open it. 3. Once you open “easconsole.jnlp” file. An EAS java application will be opened with an "Run and         Cancel Button". Click Run.   4. Once you clicked "Run". EAS CONSOLE will be opened and will ask you to enter the           username and password. 5. Once you entered valid username and password. Hyperion Essbase Application is ready to      use.
