Creating Rule File
In this post will create rule files for our database to create members in our dimensions.We can create by right clicking the dimension and adding child.
So hold on tight...
Creating Rule file -
1.
Right click on the Database. Go to Create -> Rules File
2. Go to File -> Open Data
File -> Select File Location (File System/Essbase Server), select the data file.
3. Once Selected the Data file, Click OK. Data File will
displayed in the screen.
4. To separate the data in the above
field column. Select the Data source properties tab, which forth last in the
property ribbon. A dialog box will appear and in that select the Delimiter,
And Click OK
In the below picture it can be seen that in the field panel the data is separated
by comma's and fields are divided into two parts.
5. Now Click on the Dimension Build Setting, A dialog box will
appear in that click on Dimension Build Setting Tab. Now Select the Dimension,
and Select the Build Method as required. And Click OK.
6. Now Select the Field Properties tab in the property ribbon. A
Dialog box will be open. Now select the Dimension Build Properties then
go to Dimension build -> Field Dimension - >Dimension . In
the second line of the dialog Box you can find the field number (Field which
is selected).Now Select the Dimension in which your currently working
on.(Selected Dimension must be Highlighted beside Dimension option).Now Select
Field Type in Field ->Type. And Click Next. (You must notice
that Field number is changed to next number.). Now again select the dimension
and field type. Note if dimension type is Generation or Level. In the
last option of field type Number will be highlighting the Generation and
Level number.
7. Now Click the Dimension Build Fields. Now you see the Field name has
been changed to your respective field type. Then validate the rule file by
clicking Validate option.
8. Then Save the rule file. After saving it you can notice that a new field
is created under your database name as Rules Files. Under your rule
files you find all your rules files.
